As the sun rises over Grand Teton National Park, the John Moulton Barn is captured in this photograph by Michael Faist, featured in the Smithsonian Magazine’s 11th annual photo contest as a finalist. 
The barn was built by Mormon settlers who had arrived in the area in the 1890’s.

On the surf at Encinitas, California, Jaysea DeVoe, who’s a 12-year old yoga instructor, does the mermaid pose with her friend Miely.
It took Jaysea 200 hours of teacher training to become a certified yoga instructor and she’s featured in a Reuters slideshow entitled, ‘School, surf and yoga.’

When the Royal Palace in Stockholm offered the keys to a frozen castle, untouched since the 17th century, Australian artist and photographer Alexia Sinclair could not resist the opportunity to do a photo-shoot there.
With zero-degree temperatures, and no heating or power, Sinclairs 40-plus members of the cast and crew braved the conditions at Skokloster Castle to help create what is an extraordinary collection of images, entitled ‘A Frozen Tale’

Doing a paint job outside what’s now known as the Chateau Royal Beach Resort & Spa, located a short distance from Nouméa in Nouvelle-Calédonie.
At the time this photograph was taken, it was a Club Méditerranée (Club Med) resort and there were all kinds of antics like this one going on to entertain the guests.
